That starts with making sure our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS teams have the support they need to keep our neighborhoods safe. It also means investing in parks, recreation, and programs that bring families together and make Dorchester County a great place to live, work, play, and worship.

Joe Debney

CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN FOR COUNTY COUNCIL.

Joe Debney has spent his career serving others and bringing people together to solve problems. That commitment to service is what drives his campaign for Dorchester County Council.

Joe currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Summerville Family YMCA, where he leads an organization dedicated to strengthening families and building a healthier community through youth programs, childcare, wellness, and recreation. Every day, he works with families, seniors, and young people across the region who rely on the YMCA as a place to grow, connect, and belong.

Before leading the YMCA, Joe served as Elections Director in both Dorchester County and Charleston County. In those roles, he built a reputation for fairness, professionalism, and leadership people could trust. Election officials across South Carolina came to rely on his expertise to help ensure elections were run with integrity and transparency.

Joe has also devoted countless hours to serving his community. He serves on the Dorchester County Parks and Recreation Commission, the Town of Summerville Bike and Pedestrian Committee, the Board of Directors for REV Federal Credit Union, and a worship leader at Grace Christian Fellowship Church.

Joe is a proud graduate of Charleston Southern University, and he and his wife, Jana, live in the Quail Arbor V neighborhood in Summerville, where they raised their three children.
